Vlado Perlemuter (1904–2002) was born in Kaunas, Lithuania; his family moved to Paris when he was three years of age. He studied at the Conservatoire in Paris with Moritz Moszkowski and Alfred Cortot and graduated from the Paris Conservatoire. In 1925 he Maurice Ravel and studied all of Ravel's solo works for piano with the composer himself. Thereafter, he became one of the leading exponents of Ravel's music.

To honor the bicentennial of Mozart's birth, the French division of VOX recorded the complete sonatas and Fantasia in c minor with Perlemuter in 1956.

Released locally and in limited international circulation, the original LP release of these recordings became one of the rarest and most sought-after sets among serious collectors, with copies selling at auction for more than $7,000.

Musical Concepts is pleased to return this landmark rarity to general release, newly remastered and restored from the original Pathé Studio masters.
