Apart from Chopin, Scriabin is the only composer to have raised the mazurka to an artform. These are often exquisite miniature tonepoems, splendidly played and recorded. Artur Pizarro… is totally attuned to the sensibility of early Scriabin and his performances can hardly be flawed at any point, nor can the recording. A distinguished issue.
