The music of twentieth century Czech composer Bohuslav Martinů has undergone a deserved revival in recent years. His chamber and solo music, brimming with sizzling energy, is often challenging but yields enormous rewards for the effort. Cellist Karine Georgian and pianist Ian Munro play the composer's complete music for cello and piano — three Cello Sonatas and two sets of variations, including Martinů's sly take on the music of Giacomo Rossini, a composer he greatly admired.
