The legendary Brazilian pianist Guiomar Novaes was well-loved and greatly admired. In 1909 at the age of 14 Fauré and Debussy sat on the jury that delivered the unanimous verdict that awarded Novaes first prize at the Paris Conservatoire, for a performance that included Schumann's Carnaval. The solo recordings on this set, acclaimed recordings from the early VOX LP catalogue, date from the 1950s and have never been released on compact disc; this release marks their return to the international catalogue after more than three decades out of print.
