Between 1949 and 1955, Decca Records (UK) recorded eleven operettas by librettist W. S. Gilbert and the composer Arthur Sullivan with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company. These recordings -- still prized by collectors -- brought these witty, enormously popular operettas to an international audience, capturing the talents of a remarkable circle of singing actors under the musical direction of Isidore Godfrey. Alto is pleased to present this outstanding compilation of thirty essential tracks from this recorded legacy, newly remastered and available together for the first time — at an unbeatable price!
